At HTCPickleball we encourage social and competitive pickleball

The first inter-county Pickleball event.

On Sunday 18 Feb, teams from Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire met at Batchwood sports centre, in St Albans, to contest an Inter-county pickleball match. Each county squad had 32 players and the competition was organised into four age related brackets. Games were timed and everybody played four games of gender doubles and four games of mixed doubles, so there were 128 games in total. One point was awarded for each game won, but no points were scored for drawn games.

2024 English Open

From PickleballEngland:

Last year PickleBall England had 490 registrations from 24 countries we needed to plan for a bigger venue.  There was no-where that was ideal.  So we looked beyond badminton and tennis courts and started looking at exhibition spaces.  We settled on Telford International Centre and we are really excited about the blank canvas and facilities that it offers.

Telford is in central England.  Easily accessible from London Heathrow or Birmingham & Manchester Airports with great transport links.   Telford has lots of accommodation options right on its doorstep as well as restaurants and shops for your downtime.

40 pickleball courts will be installed at Telford by Pickleball United

We are delighted to have Pickleball United’s True Court be the Official Court Provider of the English OPEN.

Pickleball United is the leading manufacturer of top-of-the-line pickleball products, and its flagship “True Court” helped bring America’s fastest-growing sport to the next level. Pickleball United are already providing courts for the APP, the recent Pickleball Slam, MLP and the temporary courts for New York Central Park’s Wollman ice rink.

In a tightly contested matchup at the Pickleball Slam, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick defeated John McEnroe and Michael Chang 3-1 to win the $1 million purse.

The slam had two singles matches and one doubles match. The latter match was worth two points in the final scoring, while the former were worth one apiece. This was the first annual event, and it was played at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.

McEnroe defeated Agassi 15-13, 16-14 in the first singles match, while Roddick defeated Chang 15-10, 15-10 in the second. The doubles game was the decider in the slam, and Agassi and Roddick squeaked by 21-15, 21-23, 12-10. See video
